Len Beadell has been named the ‘Last True Australian Explorer’ for his part in opening up over 2.5 million square kilometres of the Australian Outback. This address by Len to the Annual Conference of Rotary District 982 at the Shepparton Civic Centre on the 2nd March 1991 was typical of his hilarious style but shining throughout is his dedication to the task at hand regardless of personal hardship and remote solitary work. As he used to say, ‘I would have paid them to let me do it”.

This talk has been reproduced in a DVD format and has now been set to pictures, by his oldest daughter Connie, many of the photographs are from the family collection and never before published. The photographs, depicting the story as being told by Len, scroll through to enhance the story and give greater understanding of Len's experiences during his time in the Australian Outback..

Immerse yourself in Len’s story.
