Lennie plaques updates 2 - Plaque Restoration Project

So, to continue. Covid-19 curtailed our tours of course, so we did no plaque maintenance during 2020 to 2022. In 2023 we were back at it during our one short tour for the year along the Connie Sue and Gunbarrel Highways, repainting Neale and Jackie Junctions and cutting back overgrown blazes on the Gunbarrel. 2024 saw us travelling the Sandy Blight Junction Road, Gary Junction Road, Gary Highway, Hunt Oil Road then due to flooding and road closures, we finished the tour west on the Gunbarrel to Carnegie Station. More blaze maintenance and painting was achieved, one Sandy Blight Junction Rd plaque missing a few screws, and we finally replaced the plaque at Sandy Blight Junction. Many thanks go to the Toyota Land Cruiser Club of Victoria for putting the post back upright in 2022, a very heavy task!

There is still so much to be done out there, but we will keep on chipping away for as long as we can. Many thanks to everyone for your interest and dedication to Len's work. If you would like to see a short article on our Beadell Tours website with more information on how I make the plaques click here :- https://www.beadelltours.com.au/plaques_replicas.html.

As a young app. Mechanic in Tech Area, Woomera I was fortunate to get to know Len as I was one of the mechanics who worked on his m I lti coloured landrovers between 1958 and 1963. A wonderful human being and a great privilege to know.. Often recall the ongoing discussion with him over his new Chrysler Royal purchased from York Mtrs in Adeelaide and the problems that developed with it. I am proud to have been able to call him 'Mate'
